As evening descends, witness the majestic Ganga Aarti ceremony at the Ganges River—a spiritual spectacle featuring hymns, fire rituals, and flower offerings in homage to the sacred river. Start your day early with a boat ride on the Ganges, witnessing the sunrise and observing the rituals along the ghats. The morning atmosphere on the river is serene and deeply moving, providing an authentic glimpse into the life of Holy Varanasi. After the boat ride, the day continues with visits to some of Varanasi’s most sacred temples:
Kashi Vishwanath Temple: Also known as the Golden Temple, this is the holiest shrine in Varanasi, dedicated to Lord Shiva. Built in 1780 by Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar, it stands as a symbol of devotion and the city’s spiritual heart.
Tulsi Manas Mandir: Built at the site where poet-saint Tulsidas penned the Ramcharitmanas, this temple holds immense cultural significance in Hinduism.
Durga Mata Mandir: Known as the Monkey Temple, this 18th-century temple dedicated to Goddess Durga is notable for its self-manifested idol of the goddess and the numerous monkeys that reside here.
Sankat Mochan Hanuman Mandir: Founded on the spot where Tulsidas had a vision of Lord Hanuman, this temple is uniquely positioned with Lord Hanuman facing his deity, Lord Ram.
Baba Kaal Bhairav Temple: Known as the Kotwal (chief guardian) of Varanasi, Kaal Bhairav protects the city and its people, and devotees come here seeking his blessings for a safe and prosperous life.
After exploring these temples, return to the hotel for breakfast. In the afternoon, take a short trip to Sarnath, a revered Buddhist pilgrimage site. Here, Lord Buddha delivered his first sermon. Visit ancient stupas, monasteries, and the Ashoka Pillar, symbols of Buddhism’s historical roots in the region. Conclude the day with a visit to the Muslim weaver’s colony, famous for its exquisite handwoven Banarasi sarees and textiles.
Overnight stay at the hotel in Varanasi.
Day 3: Varanasi to Ayodhya
Post breakfast, travel to Ayodhya, the birthplace of Lord Ram. Upon arrival and check-in, embark on a day of spiritual exploration at Ayodhya’s key sites:
Ram Mandir: A prominent pilgrimage site, this temple stands as a testament to the life and legacy of Lord Ram.
Hanuman Garhi Temple: It is said that Lord Ram entrusted the guardianship of Ayodhya to Hanuman. This temple represents that legacy and is a revered spot for Hanuman devotees.
Sita Ki Rasoi: This unique kitchen symbolizes the first meal cooked by Mata Sita after her marriage to Lord Ram and offers an intimate glimpse into the divine household.
Nageshwarnath Temple: Believed to be built by Luv and Kush, sons of Lord Ram, this temple is a historic Shiva shrine revered by locals and pilgrims alike.
Saryu River: A significant site in the Ramayana, it is from this river that Sri Rama, along with the people of Ayodhya, ascended to the heavenly abode. Pilgrims often bathe here as an act of devotion.
